Brent Hawkes Support Fund at MCCT

Members of the Brent Hawkes Support Fund attended Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto on Sunday, April 17, 2017. Co-Chair Douglas Elliott said " We wanted to show our solidarity with Brent, his husband John and the congregation following the launch of the BHSF."

The group enjoyed an inspiring sermon on the topic of courage in the face of adversity entitled "Step out of the Boat" delivered by guest preacher Rev. Jordan Cantwell, Moderator of the United Church of Canada.

The Brent Hawkes Support Fund launches

Monday April 11, 2016 - The Brent Hawkes Support Fund (BHSF) is a group of volunteers who have come together to help Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes and his husband John Sproule with the burden of legal fees and other costs so that Brent can receive a fair trial. The BHSF also aims to provide accurate information about the legal process and the charges against Brent as they unfold and to educate people about the homophobic history of the charges and push for reform so that no member of the LGBTQ community is unfairly victimized by the criminal justice system.
